The Mystery… If You Want to Know!
Everything that escapes our understanding is called “mystery.” Therefore, the extent of mystery must be equal to the extent of our ignorance. What appears mysterious to some may not necessarily be so for others. For this reason, we will limit our discussion to cosmic mysteries such as death, supernatural phenomena, and similar concepts that affect all of humanity equally.
Mystery is meant to be confronted and its secrets uncovered. This is the only way to push things forward; the essence of mystery is what drives us to challenge it, progress, and discover new secrets. What was mysterious in the past is no longer so today, and what is mysterious today will vanish in the future, making way for the birth of new secrets. This is how humanity evolves over time.
- The mystery of life and death.
- The mystery of what comes before life and after death.
- The mystery of God.
The Mystery of Life and Death
Religious discourse attributes everything to God, claiming that He is the sole ruler over these domains. But first, how can we define life? There are several stages of life, from the mineral level to the human level. For me, life is existence, while death is non-existence. Therefore, we must search for the mystery of existence and the mystery of non-existence, which leads us to the second point.
The Mystery of What Comes Before Life and After Death
We are familiar with the religious perspective, which is not our concern here. From my point of view, everything that appears has gone through an unknown and infinite series of stages before reaching its final form.
I will limit myself to three types of mysteries:
- If I appear as I am, it is the result of a long process since eternity that has led to this outcome and not another. Any slight change could have resulted in a completely different outcome. What applies on an individual level is repeated on the scale of humanity with the appearance of the first human.
- Personally, I believe that before life, I was a collection of scattered points that came together to form me in this existence. After death, I will be disassembled back into non-existence.
- The only difference is that before, I had yet to exist, and after, I will have already existed. Thus, I am in this life without having been in it before and without being in it afterward. However, if the same collection of points were brought together in the same order again, it would result in the exact same person.
The Mystery of God, or the Origin of Existence
This is what is called the mystery of mysteries. The main question is: Is there an origin to existence? The principle of causality leads us into an endless loop, so we settle for the idea of a “first cause” that exists at the root of everything.
We must not skip steps. To avoid getting lost in infinity, we should focus first on finding our own immediate origin.
Before contemplating the ultimate source, let us first focus on our direct origin and discuss the question gradually to understand it better. The origin of existence is merely a primitive stage of being, which itself originates from another primitive stage, and so on indefinitely.
It is an endless chain that has evolved—not by itself, but according to its needs—until we reach what we know today. Every mystery must be uncovered and explained in order for us to progress, starting with the mystery of God.
The time has passed for continuing this submissive servitude to a god created by human imagination according to the needs of its era. The time has come for us to free ourselves from the chains that prevent us from moving forward. Our future is in our hands, not in the hands of a god—unless we consider that we, ourselves, are the divine perfection we aspire to.
