Terrorism! Who Are the Responsible Parties?

Today, with the rise of hatred, extremism, and Islamic terrorism, an important question arises: Who are the responsible parties? Those who did not witness the 1970s and 1980s might be quick to blame only the Arabs. But are these accusations justified?

Shared Responsibility

If the Arab world bears part of the responsibility, it is far from being the only culprit. This phenomenon could not have escalated to such an extent if only one party were to blame. Therefore, it is essential to be logical, objective, and realistic in our analysis. We are all involved in one way or another in the spread of this plague. Here, in my opinion, are the main responsible parties:

1. The United States of America

The United States, now leading the fight against terrorism, was the first to fund, protect, and support radical Islamic groups. These groups were used as a weapon against the former USSR. At that time, they were welcomed and received material and moral support. Today, these former allies have become enemies, but the U.S. responsibility for their creation and strengthening is undeniable.

2. Europe

While portraying itself as a beacon of freedom and democracy, Europe has hosted political Islamic figures condemned in their home countries for their crimes. Under the guise of human rights, it granted them asylum, allowing them to spread their ideas and organize their networks freely. This leniency has led to the expansion of radical ideology within its borders.

3. The Indifference of the Rest of the World

Many countries choose to ignore the terrorist threat as long as they are not directly affected. They adopt a passive stance, watching the world burn without taking action. However, we live in an interconnected world where any event can have global repercussions. Those who turn a blind eye may find themselves as the next victims.

4. Muslim Countries

Many Muslim nations remain bound by outdated interpretations of the Quran and Hadith, applying Islam as the sole reference in all aspects of life. As long as they are not directly affected, they do not consider themselves concerned. Their efforts are limited to opening Quranic schools and creating so-called humanitarian organizations, often funded by wealthy Gulf individuals under the pretext of economic development. In reality, these actions serve to indoctrinate vulnerable young minds into extremist ideology.

5. Arab and Gulf Countries

Gulf countries are governed by regimes backed by the U.S. that aim to keep their populations in ignorance by imposing an education system based on Wahhabi Islam, one of the most extreme Salafist doctrines. As for other Arab countries, they oscillate between brutal dictatorships and controlled freedoms. Those who ban Islamists while also suppressing free thinkers create a social rift that paradoxically strengthens Islamist influence.

6. Wealthy Individuals in the Arab-Muslim World

Out of fear of Islamists or in an attempt to atone for their sins, some wealthy Muslims fund terrorist groups. They are either manipulated or convinced that such funding will secure them a place in paradise. However, this financing directly fuels terrorism and threatens global stability.

7. Wealthy Individuals in the Rest of the World

Focused on their own luxuries, these elites spend enormous sums on extravagance while completely ignoring the suffering of free thinkers in the Arab-Muslim world. Their lack of solidarity allows extremists to expand their influence unchecked.

8. Free Thinkers in the Arab-Muslim World

Free thinkers are the primary targets of Islamists. If governments do not silence them, fatwas do. They are marginalized, deprived of protection, and often forced into exile or secrecy to survive.

9. Free Thinkers in the Rest of the World

Western intellectuals and thinkers, often individualistic in their approaches, do not provide any support to their counterparts in the Arab world. Yet, even moral support could make a significant difference.

10. The Arab-Muslim Populations

Trapped between poverty, oppression, and ignorance, these populations become easy prey for jihadist recruiters. Recruitment offers them a means of escape, food, self-worth, and the promise of paradise.

11. The Rest of the World’s Population

Due to their ignorance of Islamism, some individuals may unknowingly host an extremist, thereby indirectly contributing to the spread of terrorism.

12. Media and Humanitarian Organizations

The media and some NGOs play a dual role. They provide a platform for Islamists under the guise of freedom of expression while ignoring free thinkers in the Muslim world. When an extremist faces difficulties, they support him, publish his books, and amplify his voice in the media. In contrast, thinkers who fight extremism are neglected and silenced.

Conclusion: Act Rather Than Suffer

Rather than blaming one single actor or lamenting, everyone must take responsibility for the spread of terrorism. It is time to open our eyes and take action. Combating terrorism requires correcting past mistakes, supporting progressive thinkers, and taking a firm stance against extremist ideologies.
