Is Destiny a Lie or a Truth?

Destiny or fate is a crucial human belief that significantly impacts the life of an individual, a group, or entire societies. People, to varying degrees, believe that destiny governs our lives and everything that happens to us. The question that lingers on everyone’s lips is whether destiny truly exists. What is fate? Can we change it? And if so, how?

Like many others, I have pondered these questions and sought an answer that would satisfy me and be useful to those around me. Do I believe in what is called fate? Based on my experiences, I cannot deny the existence of destiny because I live it and witness it every day in my life. However, I do not believe in randomness; to me, it is merely a set of circumstances and factors occurring in time and space. In reality, even with minimal awareness, we can perceive the existence of fate. But is this fate predetermined? Should we simply surrender to it in our journey?

I do not believe that anything happens by pure chance, just as I do not believe in an absolute beginning without any precedent—except for “nothingness,” which my mind cannot even conceive. “Nothingness” does not exist for me, so my knowledge and reasoning are limited to things that have tangible existence. The absence of anything surrounding existing entities that evolve in this negative void proves that these things did not emerge without prior assumptions leading to their material existence.

For example, if I were to die today, it would not be due to chance or fate, as commonly believed, but rather due to the circumstances that led to my death on this particular day and not another.

Fate exists, but it is neither God nor a supernatural force that dictates it. The true source of destiny is the individual themselves: we are only what we deserve to be and what we have chosen to become. In reality, there is not just a single source of fate; rather, it is woven from an infinite number of surrounding factors that shape our destiny—determining whether I die today or tomorrow, or whether I meet this person or another.

This fate or destiny is defined by the past. In the present, I am living the destiny that I shaped in the past, which means it is predetermined because it was built upon previous actions. I am currently experiencing the present that was predetermined by my past, but the future can still be altered by changing the present—continuing in this cycle endlessly.

We can only gain an understanding of our destiny by paying closer attention to what is happening to us now. From time to time, we need to dive deep within ourselves to make better predictions about what is to come and what our fate holds. By addressing it in advance and with sufficient effort, we can actively shape our destiny—avoiding the worst and accelerating the best, if indeed a “better” future exists…!
