But allow me to share my perspective, one that may stir controversy, as it did more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"475\" data-end=\"514\"><strong>Why am I writing about Syria today?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"516\" data-end=\"869\">I decided to write this piece to offer an idea of what\u2019s happening in Syria and, at the same time, to clarify my stance on the issue\u2014why I have been, and still am, in favor of Assad\u2019s fall, regardless of the method, means, or consequences. Because no matter who comes after Assad, I\u2019m convinced they will be less dangerous than Assad remaining in power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"871\" data-end=\"1331\">This is not something I\u2019m saying today for the first time\u2014I said it over ten years ago, at the beginning of the Syrian revolution. Back then, I was insulted; some even cut ties with me completely and labeled me a hidden Islamist rather than an atheist\u2014even though I had clearly stated I was against Islamists, regardless of their guise, even those who claim modernity or humanity. In fact, I reject Islamic thought at its root\u2014and religious thought in general.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1336\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1338\" data-end=\"1390\"><strong>Politics is not emotion: A long-term perspective<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1701\">In politics and decision-making, positions should not be based on love or hate. Political stances are not driven by emotion. Secondly, a politician does not only look at the present, but at the future as well. Politics is about long-term vision and calculated assessments. One misstep can lead to catastrophe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1703\" data-end=\"2013\">At that time, I was on Paltalk and I said, openly and clearly, that the first and foremost priority should be to overthrow Assad as quickly as possible. That the Islamists\u2014whoever they may be (I won\u2019t mention names to avoid censorship)\u2014are less dangerous and easier to topple later than keeping Assad in power.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2015\" data-end=\"2127\">I said this before Iraq fell, during its fall, and afterward. I even wrote an article in 2005 in which I stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2129\" data-end=\"2531\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2131\" data-end=\"2531\">&#8220;It would have been better for President George W. Bush, instead of invading Iraq, to impose a siege on the Assad regime in Syria and work toward dismantling the Alawite state. That would have been far more beneficial than toppling Iraq, which only opened the door for Iran\u2019s expansionist project and enabled it to reach the Mediterranean directly, posing a serious threat to the entire Middle East.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2533\" data-end=\"2536\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2578\"><strong>America&#8217;s mistakes in Iraq and Syria<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2580\" data-end=\"2915\">It\u2019s true that <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Saddam_Hussein\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Saddam Hussein<\/a> invaded Kuwait, but had Iran been left to move freely through Iraq, its threat would\u2019ve spread to the entire region. Regardless of Saddam\u2019s actions, he was a formidable barrier\u2014a major obstacle in the face of the Iranian threat, which doesn\u2019t just endanger the Middle East, but represents a global menace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2917\" data-end=\"3202\">Therefore, curbing Iran\u2019s power in Syria should have been a top priority to counter this worrying expansion. As for the cooperation between Shiite forces in Iraq and the U.S. against the Sunnis\u2014this is a dangerous development that only deepens the complexity of the regional landscape.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3204\" data-end=\"3405\">What\u2019s happening in Iraq truly frightens me. That\u2019s why I raise this warning to every free mind: look at what America and its allies are doing now, and what they\u2019re planning for the future of humanity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3407\" data-end=\"3611\">If the world remained silent while the U.S. fueled the rise of al-Qaeda in the past, I now raise my voice loudly, warning against what America is doing\u2014out of its ignorance of Islam and the Islamic world.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"3613\" data-end=\"3616\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"3618\" data-end=\"3680\"><strong>The Bush Administration: The dumbest government in history<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3682\" data-end=\"4075\">I\u2019ve never seen a government more foolish than that of George W. Bush. He was gravely mistaken if he thought he could gain the trust of the Shiites\u2014even those within the Iraqi government. He forgot one very important fact: Shiites are a thousand times more cunning than they appear, far more organized than Sunnis, and they know exactly how to operate in the shadows without drawing attention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"4077\" data-end=\"4330\">They have long experience in secrecy and clandestine movements\u2014history testifies to this. That\u2019s why I advise everyone to keep their eyes wide open and never stop exposing American schemes, because they pose a real danger to our region and to the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"70\">Perfect. The operation was supported by political and military figures like Ahmad al-Shara, and was implemented on the ground using Sunni elements that were manipulated to serve very specific goals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2859\" data-end=\"3114\">The use of such factions for political gains is nothing new. It\u2019s a recurring historical tactic.<br data-start=\"2955\" data-end=\"2958\" \/>This is why we must approach these events with deep awareness, understanding that what appears on the surface is often far from the truth behind the scenes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3116\" data-end=\"3301\">So no\u2014it wasn\u2019t divine victory, nor was it a military triumph for the opposition. It was an agreement. A convergence of interests.<br data-start=\"3246\" data-end=\"3249\" \/>Everyone stood to gain\u2014<strong data-start=\"3272\" data-end=\"3300\">except the Syrian people<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"61\" data-end=\"64\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"66\" data-end=\"106\"><strong>Why Did Some Celebrate Assad\u2019s Fall?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"108\" data-end=\"408\">Yes, many celebrated the fall of Bashar al-Assad\u2014not necessarily because the regime was Alawite, but because the Alawites\u2019 rise to power came within a Western-backed context, especially French support, aimed at protecting the Alawite minority and safeguarding certain Western interests in the region. For nearly half a century, the Assad regime fulfilled that role effectively\u2014even with Iranian interference trying to shift the balance of power. In fact, Assad and his inner circle served as reliable sources of information regarding movements and developments in Syria and Lebanon. That\u2019s what kept them relevant to Western strategic calculations, especially in relation to Iran and Palestinian resistance movements. Not because the regime was dictatorial\u2014Assad\u2019s father before him was also a dictator and committed atrocities, yet the international community barely condemned him.<br data-start=\"996\" data-end=\"999\" \/>Let\u2019s be honest: <strong data-start=\"1016\" data-end=\"1079\">most Middle Eastern and North African leaders are dictators<\/strong>, to varying degrees.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1105\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1107\" data-end=\"1159\"><strong>\u201cDictatorship\u201d: A Western Tool for Regime Change<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1161\" data-end=\"1577\">The banner of \u201cdictatorship\u201d is often raised by Western powers <strong data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1279\">only when a leader no longer serves their interests<\/strong>\u2014and only if they already have a solid backup plan to maintain influence after toppling him. History proves this:<br data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1395\" \/>No one stays in power without serving the needs of the major powers. And once those interests are gone, so is the ruler\u2014<strong data-start=\"1515\" data-end=\"1576\">at the time, and in the way, that best suits those powers<\/strong>. Our region is a giant chessboard. We are nothing but pawns moved by their hands.As Tunisians say: <em data-start=\"1679\" data-end=\"1692\">&#8220;\u1e62a\u1e25 l\u0113hom&#8221;<\/em> \u2014 \u201cgood for them.\u201d They had every opportunity to control our destinies, and they took it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1786\" data-end=\"1949\">It\u2019s no surprise we\u2019re in this situation. We acted, too often, like tools\u2014<strong data-start=\"1862\" data-end=\"1891\">without awareness or will<\/strong>\u2014making ourselves easy prey for those who master the game.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1951\" data-end=\"1954\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1956\" data-end=\"2018\"><strong>The Gap Between Us and the West: Why Are We So Far Behind?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2020\" data-end=\"2175\">The West, and the great powers that run the world, have made leaps we can\u2019t even begin to fathom\u2014<strong data-start=\"2117\" data-end=\"2151\">we\u2019re millions of years behind<\/strong>, figuratively speaking. This isn\u2019t exaggeration\u2014it\u2019s reality. The gap has become so vast that <strong data-start=\"2248\" data-end=\"2310\">catching up using traditional methods is nearly impossible<\/strong>. Some might ask: <em data-start=\"2330\" data-end=\"2382\">Why such a harsh statement? Where\u2019s your evidence?<\/em><br data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2385\" \/>My answer: it\u2019s obvious. The West has successfully established a scientific methodology that leads to <strong data-start=\"2488\" data-end=\"2506\">true knowledge<\/strong>\u2014even eternal knowledge, you could say. For them, it\u2019s like a well-defined race: they know the path, understand the destination, and possess all the tools to get there. Meanwhile, <strong data-start=\"2689\" data-end=\"2729\">we don\u2019t even know where we\u2019re going<\/strong>, we lack a roadmap, and our tools are outdated or nonexistent.<br data-start=\"2792\" data-end=\"2795\" \/>We wander aimlessly between dreams and delusions, waiting for miracles.<br data-start=\"2866\" data-end=\"2869\" \/>As some religious invocations go:<br data-start=\"2902\" data-end=\"2905\" \/><em data-start=\"2905\" data-end=\"3004\">\u201cAll we have is prayer, our capital is hope, and our weapon is weeping\u2014do with us what You will\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3006\" data-end=\"3124\">We forget that real progress requires <strong data-start=\"3044\" data-end=\"3085\">method, structure, and a clear vision<\/strong>\u2014not just prayers and wishful thinking.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"48\" data-end=\"51\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"53\" data-end=\"104\"><strong>Why Has the West Advanced? Lessons from History<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"106\" data-end=\"374\">The great powers studied history with scientific precision.<br data-start=\"165\" data-end=\"168\" \/>They learned how civilizations rise\u2014and how they fall.<br data-start=\"222\" data-end=\"225\" \/>They drew lessons from the past and continuously worked to develop themselves.<br data-start=\"303\" data-end=\"306\" \/>Their plans for the future are deliberate, conscious, and strategic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"376\" data-end=\"695\">They\u2019ve built advanced technologies, reached space, created the most powerful weapons, and made every move based on mathematical, logical, and scientific observation.<br data-start=\"542\" data-end=\"545\" \/>They\u2019ve developed entire industries, achieved scientific supremacy\u2014and some of their discoveries remain classified, hidden from the rest of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"964\">This superiority gave them a monopoly over power and resources.<br data-start=\"760\" data-end=\"763\" \/>They now possess all the components needed to dominate\u2014and to survive.<br data-start=\"833\" data-end=\"836\" \/>The world they\u2019ve created is so strong, <strong data-start=\"876\" data-end=\"916\">it\u2019s nearly impossible to bring down<\/strong>\u2014unless a force far greater than theirs emerges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"966\" data-end=\"1352\">That scenario is closer to <strong data-start=\"993\" data-end=\"1012\">science fiction<\/strong> than to real life.<br data-start=\"1031\" data-end=\"1034\" \/>Perhaps the only possibility is <strong data-start=\"1066\" data-end=\"1096\">an alien invasion of Earth<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1097\" data-end=\"1100\" \/>In that case, Muslims\u2019 so-called \u201csuicidal jihad\u201d might suddenly become a heroic act\u2014and Islamists would be hailed as \u201csaviors of humanity,\u201d<br data-start=\"1240\" data-end=\"1243\" \/>as long as someone convinces them with a fatwa that aliens are soldiers of the Antichrist or agents of Satan.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1357\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1359\" data-end=\"1406\"><strong>A Realistic Solution: Three Essential Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1562\">The only rational, realistic path forward requires <strong data-start=\"1459\" data-end=\"1518\">a radical shift in how we think and engage with reality<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1519\" data-end=\"1522\" \/>It comes down to three essential points:<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1564\" data-end=\"1614\">1. Let Go of the Idea of \u201cDefeating the West\u201d<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1616\" data-end=\"1832\">The idea of defeating or destroying the West is not only impossible, given the immense gap between us and them\u2014it\u2019s also hostile and unproductive.<br data-start=\"1762\" data-end=\"1765\" \/>Trying to destroy the West will only provoke more hatred toward us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1834\" data-end=\"1920\">And frankly, I understand the West. If I were in their place, I\u2019d do even worse to us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1922\" data-end=\"2022\">Think about it: if someone told you they want to wipe you out, wouldn\u2019t you act to protect yourself?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2024\" data-end=\"2175\">When the West read Islamic books, they were <strong data-start=\"2068\" data-end=\"2079\">shocked<\/strong> by the contents\u2014and have since done everything possible to erase us from the face of the Earth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2177\" data-end=\"2359\">As long as we think in Islamic terms, the West will see us as a <strong data-start=\"2241\" data-end=\"2261\">perpetual threat<\/strong>, and they will exploit and undermine us at every opportunity, without ever treating us as equals.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"2366\" data-end=\"2424\">2. Reject the Mentality of \u201cDestroy Without Building\u201d<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2426\" data-end=\"2621\">You can\u2019t overthrow a major power without having a <strong data-start=\"2477\" data-end=\"2511\">strong, functional alternative<\/strong> ready to lead the world better.<br data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2546\" \/>The \u201cif we burn, we all burn\u201d mentality is a recipe for chaos\u2014not progress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2623\" data-end=\"2855\">Do we really think we can destroy civilization and replace it with backwardness and rubble?<br data-start=\"2714\" data-end=\"2717\" \/>No one would accept that.<br data-start=\"2742\" data-end=\"2745\" \/>This is why the world sees us as a source of destruction\u2014and believes we must be contained, if not eliminated.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"2862\" data-end=\"2907\">3. Choose Cooperation Over Confrontation<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2909\" data-end=\"3172\">We must recognize our true scale in this world\u2014and focus on what we can realistically accomplish.<br data-start=\"3006\" data-end=\"3009\" \/>Instead of fighting the West, we can choose to <strong data-start=\"3056\" data-end=\"3103\">collaborate scientifically and economically<\/strong>, contributing to their progress and, in doing so, proving our value.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3174\" data-end=\"3291\">This is not submission\u2014it\u2019s an opportunity to show that we can innovate, create, and contribute to global prosperity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3293\" data-end=\"3432\">So, we must let go of the fantasy of revenge and destruction, and reject the illusion that we can overpower the West through confrontation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3434\" data-end=\"3540\">Instead, let\u2019s pursue a <strong data-start=\"3458\" data-end=\"3490\">realistic, constructive path<\/strong>\u2014one in which we <strong data-start=\"3507\" data-end=\"3540\">become partners, not enemies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"63\" data-end=\"66\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"68\" data-end=\"128\"><strong>How Can We Be Civilizationally Accepted? Practical Steps<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"130\" data-end=\"215\">So how do we let go of these destructive ideas and become acceptable to civilization?<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"217\" data-end=\"241\">1. Abandon Religion<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"243\" data-end=\"507\">When I say \u201cabandon religion,\u201d I mean its laws, rulings, and rigid ideas.<br data-start=\"316\" data-end=\"319\" \/>We must free ourselves from the concept of sacred religion, from tribal beliefs, from the traditional idea of God, heaven, hell, and the obsession with the afterlife\u2014and return to reality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"625\">Yes\u2014we must embrace pragmatism and the real world.<br data-start=\"559\" data-end=\"562\" \/>Let go of fantasies, empty dreams, and all that\u2019s metaphysical.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"712\">These are the very things that <strong data-start=\"658\" data-end=\"678\">terrify the West<\/strong>\u2014and make them want to destroy us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"1022\">Imagine a world where our societies walk away from religion in droves\u2014where religion becomes secondary, even irrelevant, to daily life.<br data-start=\"849\" data-end=\"852\" \/>Sure, let religion exist as a personal matter, as a form of spirituality and private belief. But it should have <strong data-start=\"964\" data-end=\"975\">no role<\/strong> in governance, state-building, or public life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1024\" data-end=\"1066\">Let it be <strong data-start=\"1034\" data-end=\"1046\">personal<\/strong>, not <strong data-start=\"1052\" data-end=\"1065\">political<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1110\">2. Reject Racism and Nationalism<\/h4>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1112\" data-end=\"1222\">We must abandon racial, nationalist, tribal, and chauvinistic thinking\u2014especially the \u201cus vs. them\u201d mentality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1224\" data-end=\"1406\">We should open our countries to the world: to our rich history, our beautiful landscapes, our cuisine, our cultural wealth\u2014offering it all for <strong data-start=\"1367\" data-end=\"1405\">tourism, residence, and investment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1567\">Let go of toxic nationalism and blind traditionalism.<br data-start=\"1461\" data-end=\"1464\" \/>Preserve our social identity, generosity, and love of life\u2014but let\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1533\" data-end=\"1566\">build open, welcoming nations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"\" data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1608\">3. A Personal Experience<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2149\" data-end=\"2267\">These three points\u2014just those\u2014are enough to make the West want to <strong data-start=\"2215\" data-end=\"2255\">either keep us oppressed or erase us<\/strong> altogether.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2269\" data-end=\"2569\">But if we followed them sincerely, the West would have no reason to oppose us.<br data-start=\"2347\" data-end=\"2350\" \/>They\u2019d <strong data-start=\"2357\" data-end=\"2380\">accept us as equals<\/strong>, maybe even as partners.<br data-start=\"2405\" data-end=\"2408\" \/>Humanity could be unified, while preserving the diversity of each individual.<br data-start=\"2485\" data-end=\"2488\" \/>Competition would be about advancing civilization\u2014not about who can destroy more.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2571\" data-end=\"2624\">This is the only viable path\u2014if we take it seriously.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2626\" data-end=\"2733\">But I know\u2014it won\u2019t please everyone in the West at first.<br data-start=\"2683\" data-end=\"2686\" \/>Many still don\u2019t trust us.<br data-start=\"2712\" data-end=\"2715\" \/>Some even hate us.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2735\" data-end=\"2950\">When I left Islam over 25 years ago and freed myself from its chains, I was dazzled by the West.<br data-start=\"2831\" data-end=\"2834\" \/>I believed the big lie: that the West is humanistic, moral, and devoted to spreading civilization and enlightenment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"3151\">And yes, that does exist in the West\u2014but <strong data-start=\"2993\" data-end=\"3016\">only for Westerners<\/strong>, and their animals.<br data-start=\"3036\" data-end=\"3039\" \/>As for the rest of the world?<br data-start=\"3068\" data-end=\"3071\" \/>No human rights.<br data-start=\"3087\" data-end=\"3090\" \/>No animal rights.<br data-start=\"3107\" data-end=\"3110\" \/>No equality.<br data-start=\"3122\" data-end=\"3125\" \/>No security.<br data-start=\"3137\" data-end=\"3140\" \/>No justice.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3153\" data-end=\"3316\">That\u2019s the truth I discovered after years\u2014when I faced bans, harassment, temptations, and even threats.<br data-start=\"3256\" data-end=\"3259\" \/>All in an effort to turn me into a tool for their agenda.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"47\" data-end=\"50\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"127\"><strong>Why Was I Rejected by the West? Why I\u2019m &#8220;More Dangerous&#8221; Than Islamists<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"129\" data-end=\"427\">I, who freed myself from Islam\u2014the greatest enslaver of minds and people\u2014could never accept being a slave to anything else, even the West with all its advancements.<br data-start=\"293\" data-end=\"296\" \/>I once believed that they would welcome my people&#8217;s awakening, that they would rejoice if we gained awareness and stood on our own.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"529\">But instead, I found myself <strong data-start=\"457\" data-end=\"479\">more hated by them<\/strong> than even by the extremists they claim to oppose.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"531\" data-end=\"777\">I realized they <strong data-start=\"547\" data-end=\"590\">preferred Islamists over people like me<\/strong>\u2014because with Islamists, they could find justification to fight them, to wage wars, to control populations.<br data-start=\"697\" data-end=\"700\" \/>With me? They had <strong data-start=\"718\" data-end=\"738\">no justification<\/strong>. No pretext.<br data-start=\"751\" data-end=\"754\" \/>Nothing to hide behind.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"779\" data-end=\"996\">One Western figure even told me\u2014something I will never forget:<br data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"844\" \/><em data-start=\"844\" data-end=\"890\">&#8220;You are more dangerous than the Islamists.&#8221;<\/em><br data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"893\" \/>Because I represented true liberation\u2014without extremism, without servitude\u2014just pure, rational freedom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"998\" data-end=\"1117\">When I fully understood this, I faced a choice:<br data-start=\"1045\" data-end=\"1048\" \/>Give up\u2014or continue, no matter the bans, the neglect, or the threats.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1122\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1124\" data-end=\"1164\"><strong>My Spirit: North African and Eastern<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1337\">Despite the many times I felt defeated, exhausted, wanting to give up\u2014<br data-start=\"1236\" data-end=\"1239\" \/>There was always something inside me that pulled me back:<br data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1299\" \/><strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1337\">My North African and Eastern soul.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1339\" data-end=\"1394\">The living, breathing spirit of the heart of the world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1396\" data-end=\"1530\">It made me say to myself:<br data-start=\"1421\" data-end=\"1424\" \/><em data-start=\"1424\" data-end=\"1530\">&#8220;If even one person awakens, that is better for me than everything upon which the sun has risen or set.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1532\" data-end=\"1583\">When I say <em data-start=\"1543\" data-end=\"1555\">\u201cawakens,\u201d<\/em> I mean someone who becomes:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1678\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1585\" data-end=\"1612\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1587\" data-end=\"1612\">Conscious of themselves<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1613\" data-end=\"1637\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1615\" data-end=\"1637\">Aware of their being<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1678\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1678\">Understanding of what needs to be done<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1803\">Someone who becomes mindful and thinks independently\u2014who does not simply follow like livestock.<br data-start=\"1775\" data-end=\"1778\" \/>That\u2019s what matters most.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1805\" data-end=\"1909\">It doesn\u2019t matter if they agree with me or not.<br data-start=\"1852\" data-end=\"1855\" \/>It doesn\u2019t matter if they stand with me or against me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1911\" data-end=\"1965\">What matters is that they are <strong data-start=\"1941\" data-end=\"1964\">free as individuals<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1967\" data-end=\"1970\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1972\" data-end=\"2020\"><strong>Syria: The Bleeding Wound of the Middle East<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2022\" data-end=\"2148\">Returning to Syria\u2014the subject that is so close to my heart\u2014<br data-start=\"2082\" data-end=\"2085\" \/>It\u2019s a piece of my homeland that bleeds, like every part of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2150\" data-end=\"2300\">Every inch of the Middle East and North Africa carries wounds\u2014bleeding tears and blood every single day.<br data-start=\"2254\" data-end=\"2257\" \/>The sun never rises or sets without sorrow.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2302\" data-end=\"2342\">Every joy is fleeting\u2014followed by grief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2461\">The world\u2019s nations rise, and we fall.<br data-start=\"2382\" data-end=\"2385\" \/>Everything else reaches higher summits\u2014<br data-start=\"2424\" data-end=\"2427\" \/>And we dig deeper into our graves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2463\" data-end=\"2677\">We, whose history is filled with movement, vitality, and brilliance\u2014from Baghdad to Marrakech, from the scent of spices to the fragrance of perfumes, from songs and poetry to dance and joy\u2014<br data-start=\"2652\" data-end=\"2655\" \/>Where is it all today?<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2679\" data-end=\"2777\">All we smell now is the scent of bombs and ruin.<br data-start=\"2727\" data-end=\"2730\" \/>All we see are grim faces and shattered dreams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2779\" data-end=\"2916\">I won&#8217;t linger on this description, because it hurts too much.<br data-start=\"2841\" data-end=\"2844\" \/>But I say: when Bashar Assad fell, some rejoiced, and others were angry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2918\" data-end=\"2995\">But did each of you ask yourselves:<br data-start=\"2953\" data-end=\"2956\" \/><strong data-start=\"2956\" data-end=\"2995\">Why did I rejoice? Why was I angry?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2997\" data-end=\"3099\">Surely, everyone reacted according to their own position, their own benefit or harm from Assad&#8217;s fall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3101\" data-end=\"3225\">I don\u2019t blame those who rejoiced.<br data-start=\"3134\" data-end=\"3137\" \/>Nor do I blame those who grieved.<br data-start=\"3170\" data-end=\"3173\" \/>Because <strong data-start=\"3181\" data-end=\"3224\">our emotions alone won\u2019t solve anything<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3227\" data-end=\"3363\">We remain pawns, moved by others.<br data-start=\"3260\" data-end=\"3263\" \/>But at least, let us hope we find ourselves among the winning pawns\u2014even if we are still just pawns.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"47\" data-end=\"50\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"52\" data-end=\"98\"><strong>Why Did I Celebrate or Mourn Assad\u2019s Fall?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"100\" data-end=\"189\">I leave it to you to ask yourselves:<br data-start=\"136\" data-end=\"139\" \/><strong data-start=\"139\" data-end=\"189\">Why did you rejoice or grieve when Assad fell?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"191\" data-end=\"502\">But here\u2019s what I know for certain:<br data-start=\"226\" data-end=\"229\" \/>Those who mourned his fall weren\u2019t necessarily mourning Assad himself\u2014they were mourning the fear of Islamists taking his place.<br data-start=\"357\" data-end=\"360\" \/>Because the reality is, <strong data-start=\"384\" data-end=\"427\">almost everyone celebrated Assad\u2019s fall<\/strong>, except for a very small minority whose interests were tied to his regime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"504\" data-end=\"674\">Let me tell you why I personally rejoiced\u2014<br data-start=\"546\" data-end=\"549\" \/>Even though my joy brought me plenty of hatred, insults, and accusations.<br data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"625\" \/>But that didn\u2019t, and still doesn\u2019t, matter to me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"676\" data-end=\"1015\">I have long been immune to their insults, curses, and condemnations.<br data-start=\"744\" data-end=\"747\" \/>Each time I was accused of being \u201cwith the Islamists\u201d or a &#8220;fake atheist,&#8221;<br data-start=\"821\" data-end=\"824\" \/>mainly by many so-called atheists themselves\u2014<br data-start=\"869\" data-end=\"872\" \/>because, sadly, many of them define \u201catheist\u201d as <strong data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"958\">someone blindly loyal to the West<\/strong>, serving under Western, evangelical, or similar agendas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1017\" data-end=\"1150\">And anyone who dares step outside their dogmatic circle\u2014who refuses to submit\u2014<br data-start=\"1095\" data-end=\"1098\" \/>is automatically labeled as \u201cnot truly one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1152\" data-end=\"1345\">But as you know, none of that matters to me.<br data-start=\"1196\" data-end=\"1199\" \/>What I do, I do out of a love for <strong data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1245\">humanity<\/strong>,<br data-start=\"1246\" data-end=\"1249\" \/>for the heart of the world\u2014the part of humanity I want to see included in the march of progress.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1347\" data-end=\"1350\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1352\" data-end=\"1406\"><strong>My Predictions About Assad\u2019s Fall: Since October 7<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1408\" data-end=\"1639\">For me, Assad\u2019s fall was expected ever since the events of <strong data-start=\"1467\" data-end=\"1480\">October 7<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1484\" \/>I always said the most important objective was <strong data-start=\"1531\" data-end=\"1552\">the fall of Assad<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"1553\" data-end=\"1556\" \/>I didn\u2019t know how or when it would happen\u2014but I was sure there was a plan in place.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1641\" data-end=\"1717\">Still, I didn\u2019t expect they would once again <strong data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1707\">use the Islamists<\/strong> to do it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1719\" data-end=\"1887\">I thought the West had grown tired of that tactic, especially after the so-called &#8220;Arab Spring&#8221; revolutions.<br data-start=\"1827\" data-end=\"1830\" \/>I believed they had lost patience with Islamist factions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1889\" data-end=\"2103\">But like you, I was surprised to see that <strong data-start=\"1931\" data-end=\"1955\">\u201canother prostitute\u201d<\/strong>\u2014one of the West\u2019s favorite tools\u2014<br data-start=\"1989\" data-end=\"1992\" \/>was tasked with leading the new Islamist front in Syria.<br data-start=\"2048\" data-end=\"2051\" \/>At the head of this movement was <strong data-start=\"2084\" data-end=\"2102\">Ahmad al-Shara<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2105\" data-end=\"2245\">Nonetheless, as you know\u2014<br data-start=\"2130\" data-end=\"2133\" \/><strong data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2186\">I had wanted Assad\u2019s fall for nearly twenty years<\/strong>,<br data-start=\"2187\" data-end=\"2190\" \/>so my joy was immense, and I don\u2019t hide it from anyone.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"2247\" data-end=\"2250\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2252\" data-end=\"2305\"><strong>Assad Has Fallen: Now Let&#8217;s Talk About the Future<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2307\" data-end=\"2433\">Now that Assad has fallen, there is no need to speak of him anymore.<br data-start=\"2375\" data-end=\"2378\" \/>His page is closed\u2014forever erased from Syria\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2435\" data-end=\"2495\">The conversation now should be about <strong data-start=\"2472\" data-end=\"2494\">who came after him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2497\" data-end=\"2528\">And from the first day, I said:<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2530\" data-end=\"2645\">I liked <strong data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2556\">Ahmad al-Shara<\/strong> as an individual.<br data-start=\"2574\" data-end=\"2577\" \/>He played his role well.<br data-start=\"2601\" data-end=\"2604\" \/>I believe he is capable of leading Syria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2647\" data-end=\"2773\">I know that Ahmad al-Shara is a loyal student of the West.<br data-start=\"2705\" data-end=\"2708\" \/>I don\u2019t believe he will turn against them like others before him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2775\" data-end=\"2951\">He\u2019s tightly bound to Turkey on one side\u2014<br data-start=\"2816\" data-end=\"2819\" \/>And he\u2019s extremely intelligent and astute on the other.<br data-start=\"2874\" data-end=\"2877\" \/>He knows how to play the game.<br data-start=\"2907\" data-end=\"2910\" \/>He knows how to manage power effectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2953\" data-end=\"2997\">So far, he is performing his role very well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2999\" data-end=\"3097\">What worries me isn\u2019t that <strong data-start=\"3026\" data-end=\"3032\">he<\/strong> will betray the West\u2014<br data-start=\"3054\" data-end=\"3057\" \/>What worries me is those <strong data-start=\"3082\" data-end=\"3096\">around him<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"3099\" data-end=\"3290\">Because Ahmad al-Shara is leading <strong data-start=\"3133\" data-end=\"3165\">a pack of wild, rabid wolves<\/strong>\u2014<br data-start=\"3166\" data-end=\"3169\" \/>And he used to be one of them.<br data-start=\"3199\" data-end=\"3202\" \/>Which means he knows them well:<br data-start=\"3233\" data-end=\"3236\" \/>How they think.<br data-start=\"3251\" data-end=\"3254\" \/>How they act.<br al-Shara: Why Give Him a Chance?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"108\" data-end=\"229\">That\u2019s why I say:<br data-start=\"125\" data-end=\"128\" \/><strong data-start=\"128\" data-end=\"169\">Give Ahmad al-Shara a chance to work.<\/strong><br data-start=\"169\" data-end=\"172\" \/>Don\u2019t pile more on his shoulders than he already carries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"231\" data-end=\"431\">His mission is almost impossible.<br data-start=\"264\" data-end=\"267\" \/>At any moment, he could be taken down\u2014either by those around him, or by those who put him in power in the first place.<br data-start=\"385\" data-end=\"388\" \/>He is in an incredibly precarious position.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"433\" data-end=\"507\">I fully understand that <strong data-start=\"457\" data-end=\"485\">Syria is in grave danger<\/strong>\u2014<br data-start=\"486\" data-end=\"489\" \/>I don\u2019t deny that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"509\" data-end=\"516\">I know:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"883\">\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"518\" data-end=\"573\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"520\" data-end=\"573\">Many violations, crimes, and massacres will happen.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"574\" data-end=\"612\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"576\" data-end=\"612\">Syria might head toward partition.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"613\" data-end=\"713\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"615\" data-end=\"713\">Israel may end up fully controlling the south\u2014and al-Shara won\u2019t be able to say a word about it.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"714\" data-end=\"834\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"716\" data-end=\"834\">The U.S. will strengthen its grip on eastern Syria, and so will Russia\u2014especially after their latest understandings.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"\" data-start=\"835\" data-end=\"883\">\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"883\">The coastal regions might demand independence.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"885\" data-end=\"904\">I know all of this.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"909\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"911\" data-end=\"956\"><strong>Syria\u2019s Future: Between Darkness and Hope<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"1017\">Today, <strong data-start=\"965\" data-end=\"1016\">Syria\u2019s future is still shrouded in uncertainty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1019\" data-end=\"1193\">We don&#8217;t yet know the full extent of Western plans.<br data-start=\"1070\" data-end=\"1073\" \/>But based on my insights\u2014and my instincts\u2014<br data-start=\"1115\" data-end=\"1118\" \/>I believe the major powers genuinely want the Syrian experiment to succeed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1195\" data-end=\"1242\">And that, strangely enough, gives me some hope.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1244\" data-end=\"1313\">Because I know they are serious players.<br data-start=\"1284\" data-end=\"1287\" \/>They calculate every move.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1315\" data-end=\"1430\">And their primary concern right now is <strong data-start=\"1354\" data-end=\"1362\">Iran<\/strong> and its proxies throughout the region\u2014especially in Yemen and Iraq.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1432\" data-end=\"1533\">In order to contain Iran, the West must also <strong data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1502\">reconcile with Russia<\/strong> to fully stabilize the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1535\" data-end=\"1651\">The events after October 7 forced the West to start thinking seriously about <strong data-start=\"1612\" data-end=\"1650\">real solutions for the Middle East<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1653\" data-end=\"1842\">True\u2014there are factions in the West who don\u2019t want peace.<br data-start=\"1710\" data-end=\"1713\" \/>They prefer chaos.<br data-start=\"1731\" data-end=\"1734\" \/>But there are others\u2014especially among Western elites\u2014who genuinely want humanitarian, sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"1844\" data-end=\"1962\">Ahmad al-Shara knows this.<br data-start=\"1870\" data-end=\"1873\" \/><strong data-start=\"1873\" data-end=\"1895\">This is his chance<\/strong> to save Syria\u2014and to turn it into a model of freedom and humanity.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1964\" data-end=\"1967\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1969\" data-end=\"2025\"><strong>The New Challenges for Syria: Can It Become a Model?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2027\" data-end=\"2099\">I know how difficult that sounds\u2014especially with a population like ours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2179\">But I still have strong hope, despite the horrors Syria is living through now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2181\" data-end=\"2272\">Some in the West want to turn Syria into the \u201cnew Afghanistan\u201d\u2014a battleground against Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2274\" data-end=\"2390\">Others want to repaint Syria with an <strong data-start=\"2311\" data-end=\"2331\">Umayyad identity<\/strong>, to resist the new <strong data-start=\"2351\" data-end=\"2389\">Abbasid (Iranian-backed) expansion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2392\" data-end=\"2551\">Yet when I listen to Ahmad al-Shara and observe his behavior,<br data-start=\"2453\" data-end=\"2456\" \/>I see someone who <strong data-start=\"2474\" data-end=\"2501\">understands these traps<\/strong>.<br data-start=\"2502\" data-end=\"2505\" \/>I see someone who is aware of what\u2019s at stake.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2618\">That\u2019s why I rejoiced.<br data-start=\"2575\" data-end=\"2578\" \/>And that\u2019s why I support Ahmad al-Shara.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2620\" data-end=\"2759\">But let\u2019s be clear:<br data-start=\"2639\" data-end=\"2642\" \/><strong data-start=\"2642\" data-end=\"2685\">I do not support the wolves around him.<\/strong><br data-start=\"2685\" data-end=\"2688\" \/><strong data-start=\"2688\" data-end=\"2759\">I do not support any form of Islamic rule\u2014no matter how &#8220;moderate.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2906\">I hope Syria walks the right path:<br data-start=\"2795\" data-end=\"2798\" \/>To heal itself.<br data-start=\"2813\" data-end=\"2816\" \/>To focus on its own future.<br data-start=\"2843\" data-end=\"2846\" \/>And to avoid getting sucked into destructive regional games.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"\" data-start=\"75\" data-end=\"78\" \/>\n<h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"80\" data-end=\"118\"><strong>My Stance on Syria\u2019s Recent Events<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"\" data-start=\"120\" data-end=\"219\">What\u2019s happening in Syria\u2014I denounce it. What happened in the coastal region\u2014I denounce that too. There\u2019s <strong data-start=\"229\" data-end=\"242\">no debate<\/strong> about that. No ambiguity. But despite all of this, I <strong data-start=\"297\" data-end=\"356\">continue to support the Syrian experience until the end<\/strong>\u2014even if it has turned into a vast open-air prison, now with no ceiling after being completely sealed off before. I hope the point has been made clear.
