I Was Angry<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I picked up the phone to call a friend, seeking comfort,
He started talking to calm me down.<\/p>\n

He reminded me of distant years,
Of my childhood,
When people knew me for my piety,
And for praying in the mosque every day.<\/p>\n

I had memorized the Quran<\/a> by heart,
And I fasted every other day.<\/p>\n

In my youth, I traveled far,
And studied in Islamic schools,
To become a renowned imam,
To guide the lost,
To teach them your sacred words.<\/p>\n

In my youth, I wanted to prove to you
My boundless love.<\/p>\n

I was ready to offer my blood,
To sacrifice my body,
Just to meet you.<\/p>\n

Then one day, unlike any other,
My eyes were opened,
And doubt consumed me.<\/p>\n

Here I am\u2026 lost without you,
And free without you.<\/p>\n

I refuse to believe in you,
You no longer exist for me.
I refuse to bow down again,
I live my life as I see fit,
You have no right over me.<\/p>\n

I have forgotten all my past,
I live the present as it should be,
And I will await the future.<\/p>\n

Until my death\u2026 I will face you.<\/p>\n

This is my choice, and I will persist.<\/p>\n
