The Legacy of Islam: A Journey Towards True Liberation<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Introduction: Why Do Atheists Fail to Establish a Strong Presence?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

I have long wondered why atheists<\/a> fail<\/strong> to establish a strong and influential presence that grants them their true value as individuals liberated from Islam. Why are they not at the forefront of civilization, contributing to its progress, advancing knowledge, and refining human behavior based on modern principles?<\/p>\n

These questions took me back to the day I officially declared my atheism<\/strong>, after years of research into Islamic heritage. My journey took me from political Islam<\/strong> to Sufism<\/strong>, then to deism<\/strong>, until I finally freed myself completely from the concept of God<\/strong> and embraced absolute faith in humanity<\/strong>\u2014with all its virtues and flaws. I especially came to appreciate humanity\u2019s eternal pursuit of perfection<\/strong>, which it can never fully attain because the universe itself is eternal, and reaching an endpoint means ceasing to exist.<\/p>\n

When I announced my atheism in 1998<\/strong>, I felt an exhilarating sense of absolute freedom<\/strong>, believing I had become a truly liberated and civilized person. But soon, cracks began to appear in this mosaic. Less than a year later, I realized that atheism alone was not enough<\/strong> to rid me of the ignorance that Islam had instilled in me.<\/p>\n

Thus began my second journey<\/strong>, an even more profound and challenging one: analyzing the behaviors, ideas, and subconscious beliefs<\/strong> that Islam had embedded in me since childhood, in an effort to identify and purge the remnants that continued to weigh me down.<\/p>\n

Islamic Residues That Hinder True Liberation<\/strong><\/h3>\n

After years of introspection, I realized that many ex-Muslims still unconsciously retain patterns of thought and behavior<\/strong> that are rooted in Islam, even though they claim to have left the religion. Below are some of the most significant Islamic residues<\/strong> that must be eradicated to achieve true liberation.<\/p>\n

1- The False Arab Identity: “I Am Arab”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Many North Africans mistakenly identify as Arabs<\/strong>, even though their true ancestry is Amazigh, Coptic, Phoenician, or Chaldean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Islam promoted Arabization as both a religious and political tool<\/strong>, but historically, North Africa was never Arab<\/strong>\u2014it was colonized and forcibly Arabized<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Recognizing and embracing one\u2019s true heritage<\/strong> is the first step<\/strong> in breaking free from Islam because Islam and Arabization were part of the same project to erase indigenous cultures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

2- Hatred of Homosexuals<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Many ex-Muslims still harbor hatred towards homosexuals<\/strong>, thinking that rejecting homosexuality affirms their masculinity or preserves their cultural identity.<\/p>\n

But the reality is that homophobia is a deeply ingrained religious bias<\/strong>, one that contradicts both science and human rights. Anyone who claims to be liberated yet despises homosexuals is still mentally shackled by religious dogma<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

3- Conspiracy Thinking: “The World Is Against Us”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Islamists always claim that the world conspires against them<\/strong>, and unfortunately, many ex-Muslims still cling to this mentality<\/strong>, believing that global forces are secretly working to prevent them from achieving progress.<\/p>\n

This delusion falsely inflates their self-importance<\/strong>, but in reality, it prevents them from integrating into civilization and contributing to its advancement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

4- The Myth of “Working from Within”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Islam did not emerge as an internal reform movement<\/strong>, but rather as a foreign-backed expansionist ideology<\/strong> that relied on external alliances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Yet, many ex-Muslims insist on “working from within”<\/strong>, refusing external support\u2014while every religious, sectarian, and political group (from Sunnis and Shias to Christians, Jews, and Communists) readily receives international aid.<\/p>\n

Why, then, do ex-Muslims reject external support<\/strong>? Is it ignorance? Or is it an ego-driven, false heroism that keeps them weak and marginalized?<\/p>\n

5- The Obsession with “Parental Approval”<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Some ex-Muslims refuse to openly declare their atheism to avoid upsetting their parents<\/strong>. But in reality, this is intellectual hypocrisy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
