Among these, Shiite thought has stood out due to its unique development, influenced by major historical events that have helped shape its ideological and organizational structure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"431\" data-end=\"829\">Shiites present their history as a coherent ideological lineage, based on sacred texts and the guidance of the hidden Imam, the awaited Mahdi. However, while this narrative reflects a deeply held belief, it requires critical analysis to understand the nature of this movement, how it has evolved over the centuries, and how it has influenced political and religious realities in the Muslim world.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"831\" data-end=\"834\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"922\"><strong data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"920\">The Disappearance of the Mahdi: The Beginning of Isolation and Reorganization<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"924\" data-end=\"1294\">When the <strong data-start=\"933\" data-end=\"968\">12th Imam, the infallible <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mahdi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mahdi<\/a><\/strong>, disappeared in <strong data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"995\">878 CE<\/strong>, a new phase in Shiite thought began. His disappearance did not mean total absence; rather, it was believed that he continued to send messages to his followers. This belief reinforced the status of Shiite religious scholars, who became the sole intermediaries between the Mahdi and his followers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1296\" data-end=\"1673\">However, political persecution against the Shiites forced them to <strong data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1399\">withdraw from the political scene<\/strong> and focus on reorganizing their ideological and structural foundations in secrecy. Their primary task during this period was to <strong data-start=\"1528\" data-end=\"1570\">preserve and safeguard religious texts<\/strong>, which became the strategic foundation ensuring the continuity of their doctrine across generations.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1678\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"1680\" data-end=\"1757\"><strong data-start=\"1683\" data-end=\"1755\">Shiite Religious Schools: A Strict System for Leadership Development<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1759\" data-end=\"1997\">During this phase, closed religious schools were established, exclusively for the descendants of devoted Shiites. Admission to these schools was <strong data-start=\"1904\" data-end=\"1924\">highly selective<\/strong>, requiring candidates to undergo rigorous tests and background checks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1999\" data-end=\"2089\">The religious education in these institutions was divided into <strong data-start=\"2062\" data-end=\"2086\">seven primary stages<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ol data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"3067\">\n<li data-start=\"2091\" data-end=\"2267\">The student begins by learning <strong data-start=\"2125\" data-end=\"2179\">the fundamentals of Islam and Shiite jurisprudence<\/strong> under the guidance of a <em data-start=\"2204\" data-end=\"2214\">Mujtahid<\/em> (a jurist with authority in legal interpretation).<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2268\" data-end=\"2379\">The student advances to the rank of a religious scholar but must remain under the supervision of a mentor.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2380\" data-end=\"2523\">At this stage, the student is awarded the title of <strong data-start=\"2434\" data-end=\"2455\">&#8220;Hujjat al-Islam&#8221;<\/strong>, granting them partial independence in religious interpretations.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2524\" data-end=\"2650\">The student writes their own legal precedents and presents a dissertation (<em data-start=\"2602\" data-end=\"2623\">Risalat al-Amaliyah<\/em>) before senior scholars.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2651\" data-end=\"2764\">Upon passing, they earn the title of <strong data-start=\"2691\" data-end=\"2705\">&#8220;Mujtahid&#8221;<\/strong>, giving them full autonomy in issuing religious rulings.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2765\" data-end=\"2924\">The highest rank is <strong data-start=\"2788\" data-end=\"2803\">&#8220;Ayatollah&#8221;<\/strong>, which permits the scholar to manage their own religious school and send students worldwide to spread their teachings.<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"2925\" data-end=\"3067\">The ultimate rank, <strong data-start=\"2947\" data-end=\"2969\">&#8220;Wilayat al-Faqih&#8221;<\/strong>, is reserved for the highest religious authority, theoretically held only by the Mahdi himself.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-start=\"3069\" data-end=\"3230\">In practice, <strong data-start=\"3082\" data-end=\"3145\">no Shiite cleric has dared to claim this ultimate authority<\/strong>, except for <strong data-start=\"3158\" data-end=\"3180\">Ayatollah Khomeini<\/strong> during his revolution against the Shah of Iran.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"3232\" data-end=\"3235\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"3237\" data-end=\"3303\"><strong data-start=\"3240\" data-end=\"3301\">Shiite Infiltration into Sunni Thought: A Covert Strategy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3305\" data-end=\"3443\">Over time, Shiites adopted <strong data-start=\"3332\" data-end=\"3369\">strategic infiltration techniques<\/strong> to spread their beliefs, exploiting vulnerabilities within Sunni Islam.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3445\" data-end=\"3763\">One of the most prominent figures in this effort was <strong data-start=\"3498\" data-end=\"3525\">Jamal al-Din al-Afghani<\/strong> (1839-1897), whose real name was <strong data-start=\"3559\" data-end=\"3585\">Jamal al-Din Asadabadi<\/strong>. Born into a Shiite environment, he studied in Iran before infiltrating Sunni circles, presenting himself as one of them to <strong data-start=\"3710\" data-end=\"3760\">understand their logic and operational methods<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3765\" data-end=\"4028\">His first target was <strong data-start=\"3786\" data-end=\"3818\">Al-Azhar University in Egypt<\/strong>, where he sought to introduce <strong data-start=\"3849\" data-end=\"3909\">Shiite political ideas under the guise of Islamic reform<\/strong>. His efforts were a <strong data-start=\"3930\" data-end=\"3979\">test case for developing infiltration tactics<\/strong>, setting a model for future Shiite operatives.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"4030\" data-end=\"4033\" \/>\n<h3 data-start=\"4035\" data-end=\"4110\"><strong data-start=\"4038\" data-end=\"4108\">Mohammed Abduh: The Disciple Who Became a Tool of Shiite Influence<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4112\" data-end=\"4395\">One of al-Afghani\u2019s most influential students was <strong data-start=\"4162\" data-end=\"4180\">Mohammed Abduh<\/strong> (1849-1905), who later became the <strong data-start=\"4215\" data-end=\"4256\">father of the Islamic reform movement<\/strong> (<em data-start=\"4258\" data-end=\"4265\">Nahda<\/em>). They systematically <strong data-start=\"4870\" data-end=\"4917\">rebuilt their religious networks in secrecy<\/strong>, restructured their institutions to produce <strong data-start=\"4962\" data-end=\"5006\">leaders who could control their doctrine<\/strong>, and expanded their influence into Sunni communities through <strong data-start=\"5068\" data-end=\"5111\">covert political and intellectual means<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5116\" data-end=\"5524\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">While these strategies have achieved <strong data-start=\"5153\" data-end=\"5174\">notable successes<\/strong>, they have also faced <strong data-start=\"5197\" data-end=\"5223\">significant challenges<\/strong>, particularly with the rise of political and religious awareness in the Islamic world.
